McKenzie Steger DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Steger grew up on a farming and cow-calf operation near Chappell and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Iowa State Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine in 2015 (emphasis in Food Animal Medicine). Upon graduation, she commissioned into the United States Army and was assigned to the 438th Medical Detachment-Veterinary Service Support in Fort Carson, CO. She deployed to Afghanistan in 2017 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and upon her return, served as the Command Veterinarian for 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC. Most recently, Major Steger was the Bavaria Branch Chief for Veterinary Readiness Activity-Rheinland Pfalz at Tower Barracks, Germany where she completed her Master’s degree in Public Health. She has experience in canine performance medicine, small animal primary care, combat trauma management, translational medicine, and many aspects of veterinary preventive medicine and public health. She transitioned out of active duty service this Spring and is excited to return home and join the team at Creekside Animal Hospital. She looks forward to working with local farmers, ranchers and pet owners. She enjoys continuously improving her commercial Angus cow-calf herd, all things outdoors and her beloved Springer Spaniel Monte.
